The central core of the house is a huge kitchen/dining/living room with a soaring beamed ceiling and quarry tiled floor. It is blissfully cool in the heat of summer. The table can seat up to 14 and the sofas and chairs are wonderfully comfortable in front of a blazing open fire if the weather is cold. The kitchen area has plentiful cupboards and work surfaces; a 5 burner gaz range and large oven, an American ice-making refrigerator, smaller drinks refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and copious quantities of crockery, cutlery, glass and cookware.
The house is looked after by Marie Lyne, who comes two mornings a week, as well as looking after change-overs. Francois, her partner keeps the swimming pool in impecable condition and Mike and Adèle take care of the grounds and plants.
There is a separate book-lined sitting room with comfortable sofas in which to relax, read or listen to music, a wood burning stove and a desk.
The ground floor wing has 4 double bedrooms, 2 with French windows, three bathrooms (one en suite), and in another wing there is a large playroom, which doubles as a dormitory bedroom with 2 x double bunk beds. A staircase goes up to the master bedroom with a luxurious en suite bathroom. Outside the master bedroom, the small landing has a dropside cot tucked away in a corner. Three of the downstair bedrooms have twin 3’ beds which are designed to convert to a super kingsize bed if required, the fourth and the master have double beds. Linen, towels, electric blankets are provided. A travel cot and two high chairs are also provided.
A roofed terrace leads out from the big salon. This can seat 24 people dining al fresco. There are two barbecues for cooking. A short distance away is the second covered terrace beside a 12m x 6m walled and fenced swimming pool with ample sunbeds, loungers and a childrens paddling pool. The pool is 12m x 6m x 2.2m deep at the deep end and .20m at the shallow end, which has curved steps. It is surrounded by a wall, fencing and vicious roses. It is also protected by a pool alarm and a lockable gate.
L’Eyssalle has a quick draining green hard tennis court.
